Pipes (Oilfield)

Pipes (Oilfield) computes the volumes, pressures and weights of various oilfield pipes. This includes the calculation of:

  • The metal displacement volume for open-ended or closed-ended pipe string (Displacement & Capacity Module).
  • The internal volume of a pipe string (Displacement & Capacity Module)
  • The casing, stab-in casing and liner cement volumes (Volume Module).
  • The cement plug and cement plug thru coiled tubing job volumes.
  • The annular volume between two pipe strings (Volume Module).
  • The annular volume between a pipe string and the open hole (Volume Module).
  • The weight of a pipe string in air or in a fluid (the calculator allows to define a different fluid density inside and outside the pipe string) (Weight Module).
The app allows the addition of an excess to the open hole sections or to both open hole and outer pipe sections.

Pipes (Oilfield) App includes a complete database of all API casing, drill pipe and tubing pipes as well as the list of the most common coiled tubing and open hole sizes. A provision of adding user's defined pipe details is made through the "User's Data" module.

Moreover, the app allows saving the calculation details and sharing them through emails, messaging apps, and through iCloud account to different user's devices.

The Pipes (Oilfield) Manual provide a quick reference to the calculation modules, features and settings.

Pressure (Hydro)

The “Pressure” module is now included in the Pipes (oilfield) app as a FREE Add-on. The “Pressure” module computes :

  • The friction pressure drop in pipes and hoses
  • The friction pressure drop in centric and eccentric annular conduits
  • The pumping pressure in pipes and hoses at different pumping rate, fluid theologies and fluid densities.
  • The circulating pressure down a pipe conduit then up the annulus.
  • The Injection pressure into a formation with specific height, permeability and pressure.
  • The pressure drop across a bit or a nozzle at a specific pumping rate and fluid rheology.
  • All calculation can be performed for casings, drill pipes, tubings and coiled tubing pipes.

The Help of the "Pressure" Module is part of the "Pipes (Oilfield)" Manual which provides a quick reference to the calculation modules, features and settings.

Rheology

The “Rheology” module uses the viscometer readings to compute the rheology parameters for a newtonian, Bingham Plastic, Power Law and Herschel Bulkley fluid models.

The module allows the use of various bobs, rotors and springs as per the actual viscometer configuration and provides an easy way to change between the rheology models and calculate each model parameters.
